Board of Directors

Like the rivers that run through the Texas Hill country, EdenHill Communities is moving forward. Progressive amenities, inspiring services, and fresh living arrangements are underway for a future rich with hope.

Our Board of Directors supports the entire EdenHill Community ... ensuring quality and compassion is not just a requirement, but a way of living.

Our dedication to faith, heritage, community, comfort and value is ensured through the distinguished Board of Directors who support EdenHill Communities:

Laurence Dahl, CEO and Executive Director

The Board is a group of outstanding men and women whose vision, passion and leadership turned the dream of a repositioned campus into a groundbreaking master plan that exceeds all expectations. Theirs is also a faith journey that infuses the 100+ year spiritual heritage of EdenHill Communities with unique talents in business, academia, medicine, law, finance and civic engagement.

I am confident that the stewardship of the board of directors and the vision of EdenHill Communities’ staff as a whole have helped shepherd a new way of retirement living into Comal County.

Paul E. Neilson - President

My purpose in joining any volunteer Board is a combination of the following: (a) I have a personal interest in the mission and vision, (b) would like to support their efforts by making meaningful contributions via my personal time and talents and (c) to eventually make a difference in their future operations.

Charles E. Zech – 1st Vice President

Represents several Texas Cities with a wide variety of complex issues that city staff, governmental bodies and appointed representatives face every day.  While he was the City Attorney for the City of New Braunfels, Mr. Zech was promoted to the position of Deputy City Manager giving him a unique perspective into the issues that city employees have to face when interacting with other employees, citizens, and elected and appointed officials.
Mr. Zech is a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Gulf War.

Rev. Sonja Phillips - 2nd Vice President

I am honored and humbled to have been nominated and elected by the South Central Conference of the United Church of Christ to the Eden Hill Board of Directors. I am excited to be part of a faith based organization that continues to make a difference in the lives of their residents and in the wider community. It is important to me to give voice to the work and vision of Eden Hill Communities.

Linda F. Lange - Treasurer

Through decades of volunteering and serving on boards, I have witnessed and experienced how non-profit organizations endeavor to enhance the quality of life for those they serve. EdenHill Communities' care for those with the mixed blessing of outliving their funds follows Jesus in loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. With the upgrade to the only Continuing Care Retirement Community between Austin and San Antonio, EdenHill took a leap of faith which I wholeheartedly support.

Ben Wehman - Secretary

I am proud to serve as a Board Member to honor my Mother, Rosa Lee Wehman, who was an EdenHill resident for several years prior to death. The compassionate care she received gave me the incentive to join this great organization, share my time, and give back by helping others.

Dr. Warren Albrecht

Growing up in the community – a good place for your New Braunfels, Eden was part of “Oma” to live.  Now, part of my medical practice is caring for residents at Eden.  I think one of the reasons I was asked to be on the Board was to give a physician’s perspective.

Bruce Boyer

Although I was not on the Board when it began to consider the Pinnacle project, as Mayor, I did have occasion to be presented with the plans.  It immediately struck me as a landmark addition to New Braunfels, which would be extremely well planned, executed and managed.

Rusty Brockman

Rusty Brockman is the Director of Economic Development at The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, where he has served for 14 years. Rusty retired from public education in 2001 after 28 years; 15 of those were with the Comal ISD as campus assistant principal, principal and central office administrator.  He spent the first 13 years of his career teaching life sciences, health, and physical education and coaching. Rusty is actively involved in continuing the development of higher education, workforce training and business development opportunities in New Braunfels and Comal County, Texas.

Soriya M. Estes

I am thrilled to be a part of the EdenHill Board of Directors for so many reasons! Community support and long-term establishments for our seniors is something that I have always been passionate about in my profession. Once I read the mission and values of EdenHill Communities, I knew that if the Board would have me, I would happily become involved to further assist in any way I can for the residents and continued growth of the organization.

Annabel S. Fey

I am delighted to be part of the EdenHill Communities.  I am passionate to share my skills and talents to serve the mission of the organization.  I am eager to serve the residents and build relationships based upon trust, integrity and professionalism. As my husband and I age – it is important to us to know our options for senior care– what a better way to learn by getting involved.
Marcia B. McGlothlin
I was honored to be asked join the Board of Directors. At this point in my life, it's the right thing to do.
Cindy Williams
I am so honored to be part of the “Hill Adventure” that is unfolding at EdenHill. The “former” Eden Home has been a part of our lives for 25 years. The development of The Pinnacle is truly a welcome addition to our community and being a faith-based organization allows the love of Christ to be shared in every area of care and keeps Him at the core. What could be more exciting!
