One of the community’s favorite springtime events has successfully come to pass again this year! The 10th Annual Gala and Silent Auction took place on March 31st. Three-hundred and eighty people attended, and seventeen of those were Future Residents of The Pinnacle. Ann Whitis, Director of Marketing for EdenHill Communities, has been managing the event for the last several years now and gave us a recap of the night for those that missed this spectacular event.
The night started off with an artistic stroke, an art exhibit and auction displayed throughout the New Braunfels Convention Center, where the event was held. “This year was so different in that we started it off with a wine and cheese social before the actual gala started,” says Ann. “The social allowed mingling and the chance to bid on one of 37 amazing art collections—including a couple of paintings by the late Thomas Kinkade.”
Accompanied by the musical notes of The Sophisticates, a local band from nearby Austin, attendees could peruse the silent auction items and enjoy the vast variety of refreshments which included crab and vegetarian appetizers, stuffed and glazed quail with caramelized onions and apricots, and pork tenderloin on mushroom sauce. “The dessert [a chocolate chip and pistachio cannoli] was amazing and beautifully presented by Executive Chef, Eric Clark,” says Ann.
The gala, a popular outing among EdenHill community residents, supports a fantastic cause—The Benevolent Fund for Charitable Care of EdenHill, headed by this year’s community co-chairs, Robin and Nancy Rush. Ann explains that the fund supports residents who live within the EdenHill community and who have a financial need, whether that is funds to pay to live at EdenHill, or even funds to help out with the purchase of medication. Historically, the gala has raised up to $60,000 and is expected to be even more successful next year with the addition of The Pinnacle. “The residents of The Pinnacle at EdenHill will add to the excitement and support of this great cause for the people of our community,” says Ann. “We are looking forward to switching things up a bit next year, and what better timing than with a new addition to our community?”
